What is IMS MedDash

MedDash is an annual summer program devoted to engaging high school students from marginalized communities in Toronto in biomedical research topics. Organized by students in the Institute of Medical Sciences, MedDash also hopes to inspire students to pursue science and medicine after high school at the University of Toronto.

Our vision is to create a dynamic space to facilitate engagement and education, and to provide high school students from marginalized communities a free opportunity to learn more about what university entails while having fun. This will be achieved through enriching the experience for volunteers from the Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) to branch out and learn their mentorship skills while targeting high schools from the GTA in marginalized communities to raise awareness of the program.

By leveraging students from diverse studies in the faculty of medicine, high school students will obtain a diverse understanding of the science activities possible at the University of Toronto. We also plan to have a field expert speak as a keynote speaker.
